報告摘要：
Approximately 11% people in both US and China are diabetics. Among them, about 90% suffers type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The cost of health is huge. It is believed that type 2 diabetes is caused by the failure of insulin compensation, which is resulted from the apoptosis of beta-cells. Thus it is significant to prevent the death of beta-cells. We formulate a fast-slow system and demonstrated that the intermittent rest of insulin secretion might help beta-cells to survive.
報告人簡(jiǎn)介：
李嘉旭，博士，1982年畢業(yè)于吉林大學(xué)數學(xué)系本科，1988年獲大連理工大學(xué)碩士學(xué)位，2004年獲亞利桑那州立大學(xué)應用數學(xué)博士學(xué)位，目前任路易維爾大學(xué)數學(xué)系教授。李嘉旭博士的學(xué)科研究方向是建立和分析有關(guān)糖尿病的數學(xué)模型以及有關(guān)基因分化的數學(xué)模型。他的研究成果已在相關(guān)領(lǐng)域達到國際領(lǐng)先水平。
